Classical Hematology Advancement Mentorship Program (CHAMP)

The Classical Hematology Advancement Mentorship Program (CHAMP) is a unique, year-long opportunity for current first or second-year pediatric and adult hematology/oncology fellows with interests in clinical careers in classical hematology to be matched with an external mentor who specializes in classical hematology. Through this program, which consists of virtual and in-person components, trainees will be able to ensure that they have the guidance to pursue careers in classical hematology, especially for those training at institutions where robust classical hematology mentorship may not be available.

Program Components

  • Mentor-mentee matching based on common career interest and goals
  • Monthly virtual meetings with mentor and mentee
  • Completion of a scholarly project
  • In-person meet up at ASH Annual Meeting in December 2024
  • In-person workshop on May 18-19, 2025

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply if you meet both of the following requirements:

  • You are an ASH Associate Member or FHF Member in good standing at the time of the application
  • You are in your first or second-year of hematology/oncology fellowship training at accredited programs in the United States or Canada as of July 15, 2024

ASH seeks to increase participation in this program from diverse and underrepresented groups in hematology. These individuals include but are not limited to those from centers without robust classical hematology training, underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in medicine, underrepresented gender groups, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
